Meet the Staff
Mrs. Amy Johnston, director

Mrs. Amy Johnston joined the staff of Sayre Area School District in August 2005 as instrumental music instructor, and director of bands. Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, Mrs. Johnston received her Associate in Fine Arts from Brevard College in Brevard, NC, her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC and her Master of Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. In addition to her teaching duties, she is the Secretary for the Bradford/Sullivan County Music Educator's Association (BSCMEA) and the county representative to PMEA District 8.
Mrs. Johnston retired in 2011 after a 22-year career from the 28th Infantry Division Band, an Army National Guard unit in Hollidaysburg, PA. As part of her military duties, she performed on flute and piccolo, served as the Unit Librarian and was the Assistant Conductor of the Ceremonial Band. During her military career, Mrs. Johnston also served with the 313th Army Band in Birmingham, AL, the 312th Army Band in Lawrence, KS, and the 108th Division Band in Charlotte, NC.
Mrs. Amanda Gillette, colorguard advisor
Mrs. Gillette joined the marching band staff in May 2015. She holds a Bachelors in Music Education from Mansfield University and is currently working towards her Masters in Instrumental Conducting from Messiah College. Mrs. Gillette teaches K-6 general music and 5th grade chorus at H. Austin Snyder Elementary.
Katie Victor, college intern
Katie is a 2014 graduate of Sayre High School and joined the band staff in June 2014. She is currently a sophomore studying music education at Edinboro University.
Amanda Klovekorn, college intern
Amanda is a 2014 graduate of Sayre High School and joined the band staff in June 2014. She is currently a sophomore at Penn State University and a member of the PSU Pep Band.
Ryan Kipp, college intern
Ryan is a 2015 graduate of Sayre High School and joined the band staff in August 2015.
