The Junior High Concert Band is comprised of students in grades 7-8 and meets daily during 1st period.

Junior High Concert Band is designed to be a fun, exciting continuation of the life-long musical experience.  During 7th and 8th Grade, band students will continue their musical journey through continuing to develop their individual and group skills.

 

Students are required to have the following in class each day: instrument, music, theory and warm-up books, and a pencil. Students' musical growth will be assessed through both written and playing tests.

 

 

 

 

Students are expected to practice outside of class at least three times per week.

 

Your practice session should include...

• Warm-up (long tones, lip-slurs, scales, chorales, and technique exercises found in your warm-up book)

• Scale practice

  • Wind instruments: memorize the following scales - Concert Bb, Concert Eb, Concert Ab, Concert F, Concert C, and Concert G

  • Percussionists: memorize the following rudiments - long roll, 5-stroke roll, 7-stroke roll, flam, flam accent, flamadiddle

• Concert music
